I entertain the idea you misread the formula. It is (initial investment)*[(1 + monthly interest rate)^(12*number of years)] which will give you the correct riposte.

Im bothersome to make a financial calculator on excel for a $5000 investment in a mutual fund paying 15%
C1 is 1
C2 is .15 (interest rate)
C3 is 10 (how elongated i will be invested in years)
C4 is 5000 (my investment)
You could also use Top's Future Value function. You could either use the function wizard (the fx next to the formula bar), or enter the formula manually: =FV(C2,C3,0,-C4). The development should be $20,227.79.
